It's really up to you, and what looks good to fill up the case, the larger diameter 16mm I find looks pretty good.

Another little question for you, I would be right in saying PETG is much easier to work with?

PETG is the most popular by far, it's fairly easy to bend compared to say acrylic but doesn't have the same clarity.

It is indeed easier to work with but take note you cannot use glycol based coolants with PETG.
