Memory 4x2 or 8x1?

Since June I have been planning to build a gaming pc, since i'm pretty new in the pc world I have done some research on the internet. The internet did answer most of my questions, but  there are still some questions that hasn't been answered yet. 

 

First let me start with that I want to build a gaming pc with a budget around 1000 euro's.

I will mainly be using the PC for playing the latest games on 1080p with ofcourse an framerate around the 60.

when I was browsing around the internet I came along alot pc builds sometimes when they pick 8gb of memory they choose for 2 memory sticks of 4gb and sometimes they pick for one memorystick of 8gb. Is there really a difference in game performance? because the prices are different. Or is the 4x2 and 8x1 just for practical reasons so replacement is way easier?

it's more of just whatever you want sort of thing there's no real world performance difference i prefer going for bigger single sticks so i can add more ram withought having to remove the lower gig sticks

The point is to teach them so they learn how to post properly for future posts.

having 2 sticks of ram, means you have faster ram (everything else being equal), it might not transfer to better gaming perf, but it is faster in scenarios that are memory bandwidth starved
