Best Headphones for $100?

Guest

I am wondering what headphones (not for gaming, just headphones) for under $100. Any suggestions?

I'll second the M40X recommendation. For ~$20 extra you can also get more comfortable pads that improve acoustics pretty significantly. At the $200 range you have more options, obviously, but I think the M40X are better than the M50X at $160, FWIW.

Id have to mention the classic MDR V6 and MDR 7506s.
They are often forgotten cause their age, but the fact they are this old, and still relevant should say something.

Yeah, but Bose isn't very well regarded among audiophiles. And I doubt most people want used headphones.

True but i am an audiophile for them.

Also noise canceling takes away from the audio experience, it cancels out some of the frequencies of the headphones themselves.

Now that they're last gen you can find HD598s on sale for around that price occasionally. They're great and one of the best places to get into higher end audio.

That's not true experience. Compared to a good set of $100 headphones, gaming headsets always sound like crap.

Do you really want Over-Ear or are you just fine with any headphone? For $100 there aren't a lot of great buys for Over-Ear, however there's tons of In-Ear options at that price range.

I have an M30X which I got for $65, but I can tell the M40X and M50X are far apart. Also, M50Xs in my area went on sale for $200, used to be like $350.

Also, what sound signature do you prefer? Anything bassy, linear, V-shaped?

EDIT:

DUDE! M50X on sale right now for $130, it's a no-brainer. Grab it ASAP. There aren't many options that could beat this at $130. Other people might have issues with this and its sound, but there aren't many ones that could beat this at that price point.

You can bark like a dog, but that won't make you a dog.

You can act like someone you're not, but that won't change who you are.

Finished Crysis without a discrete GPU,15 FPS average, and a lot of heart

How I plan my builds -

Spoiler

For me I start with the "There's no way I'm not gonna spend $1,000 on a system."

Followed by the "Wow I need to buy the OS for a $100!?"

Then "Let's start with the 'best budget GPU' and 'best budget CPU' that actually fits what I think is my budget."

Realizing my budget is a lot less, I work my way to "I think these new games will run on a cheap ass CPU."

Then end with "The new parts launching next year is probably gonna be better and faster for the same price so I'll just buy next year."
