MSI afterburner doesn't keep settings

After switching graphics cards recently, I noted that MSI after burner resets after every boot, it's kinda annoying to have to set it each time and such, should I just try reinstalling it or is there something up with it?

but to get to business: my msi afterburner keeps all settings. maybe you should reinstall and install that piece of shit other thing that comes with it(for recording and shit) just in case. it should work.

I never installed Riva statistics cancer when I installed it, there is an option to opt out, sadly not one to make it tear itself from the software and commit seppuku on my desk.

Do you have it set to apply on startup? On mine at least, there's a small checkbox (it's actually a circle) under the clock speed dial, that says "Apply at Startup"

Yep, I had a GTX 680 in here before, but I redid the drivers so I wouldn't imagine that the software would be fucked up

Hmm. Did you DDU? I had to do that to get my 980 ti to work without artifacting.

I sure did, I'll just purge afterburner using my fury over it being so shit to make it maybe work a tiny bit less shitly

 You could try EVGA XoC, but it's even worse to use.

Yeah I've used that before for some extreme GT 610 overclocking before it blew up, since this is an MSI card I might as well stick with MSI

yeah. XoC works with my MSI 980 Ti, but it freaks out the first time and tells me there's no EVGA cards installed. At least you didn't get the MSI Gaming App. i got it just to see what I could do with the lighting on my card, and the software is handy and well layed out, but bogs my whole system down.

I had it but found it completely useless since I left the stupid LED unplugged. To be fair this GTX 980 goes to almost 1460 on it's own so it's not like the extra 67MHz that is stable is a lot, but it's the principle that matters.

Nope, after reinstall, still resets after boot, the fan profile stays buy the sliders resets.

From a quick Google and some other threads, looks like you can try saving it to a profile and making sure it runs with admin privileges. And you have to keep it open, but I assume you already know that.

Yes, the card goes up to 1527MHz stable, but I soldered copper bus bars over the current shunts

Hmmm. If you save it to a profile, does activating that bring the settings back? Then you just need to open Afterburner and click the profile.

it seems to, it's saved the OC and all I gotta do is click once, but that's still a lot if I forget and loose the point of the mod. You can see that Furmark is only using 7.6% of the power limit lol

Nice! What card is it? NVM, it’s a 980 (duh, it says it on Afterburner). I’ve got a 980 Ti, but I don’t wanna OC because I only have a 450W PSU, so I’ll see how it goes once I get a better system. Yours seems to be a solid overclocker though.

it's not really, it doesn't go any higher than 1527MHz, that isn't that great, the card is average, it's just the lack of the TDP and the hack fans that really push it over, any card can do this if you hack them.
