So, recently I am trying to build a new pc. But recently I have been in a dilemma to decide whether I should go with ryzen or intel platform. My budget for CPU and Motherboard is ~$350. In the intel side, it seems to have a better and mature platform. It has better motherboard than ryzen's ( like AsRock Fata1ty Z270 itx) and seems to have less problem. My plan is to have i5-7500 pair with AsRock Fata1ty Z270 itx.  But on the other hand, Ryzen 1600 has more cores and threads but the itx motherboard market isn't very good and lacks quite a bit feature. Which platform should I go then? My main use for my PC is for gaming and and programming. Help me plzz.

No point in buying a locked i5 with z270, cant OC. R5 would be much better, especially when you OC.

Please quote our replys so we get a notification and can reply easily. Never cheap out on a PSU, or I will come to watch the fireworks.

Ryzen has had its fair share of issues, but those mostly have disappered after bios updates and such.

If you're going mid-range Ryzen 5 has the upper hand, i5 is slightly behind.

However, if you feel like ryzen mITX boards still lack features you truly need then Intel it is. It's not like you're losing 50% gaming performance, i5's aren't bad.

Also; pairing a locked i5 (such as the i5 7500) with a motherboard that features overclocking (any Z270 motherboard) is pretty pointless.
You'll have to get a K variant of the i5 to overclock.

Overall, if you want the best bang for your buck, Ryzen 5 is slightly better.

Are the mITX motherboards really lacking somthing you'll miss if you're buying Ryzen?

Make sure! :)

Shame Ryzen's itx market is lacking. Biostar is Biostar, Gigabyte's has poor vrm cooling. Dunno much about the Asrock one.

Also don't listen to the flack about pairing a locked chip with a Z chipset. People seem to forget that allows you to take advantage of ram over 2133mhz and faster ram speed alone on locked Intel chips gives a little performance boost.

ASrock have release X370 mITX motherboard ... it better than all mATX ones since it's using 6+2 power phase.

Others are using 4+2 or 4+3.

I'm waiting for ASRock to release mATX X370.

Maybe you can wait for couple of months? Im sure more mITX am4 mobo is coming out sooner or later. R5 1600 is really a better deal than any i5.
