Can you have a gtx 780 and a gtx 650 ti boost in sli?

NO, if possible it would bottleneck the 780.

Sorry, only in crossfire can you combine 2 different cards.  Even then they have to be of the same generation if I'm correct.

For crossfire they have to be the same core, like the 7950 and 7970. They can be crossfired because they are both Tahiti.

While that sounds good in theory, I don't think it is worth it because the 780 performs so well anyway. That configuration would just use more power.

Sorry, that was meant ironically. It's the stupid stone age old idea of having a dedicated PhysX card that's just so obsolete! But for a long time everyone was still keeping their old cards just for PhysX which is ridiculous. :D

SLI just works with the same GPU architecture and amount of RAM. So NO it won´t... why would anyone want to SLI a GTX780 with an old beat up 650?

 

Don´t get me wrong but this is, as if you would try to buy a brand new corvette with the interior of a 1996 impala ;) .

 

Are you playing in a higher resolution than 1080p?

I guess you might mean use the 650Ti as a physx card? It's still not worth it...
