So I decided that I think I'm gonna build my first rig and all, and have set up a parts list for it, which I'll link here. For this system, I plan on gaming as well as Twitch streaming, and also plan on down the road running an 24-hour Internet radio station off of this rig as well. Any thoughts, suggestions, and recommendations on it are appreciated!

Since you're streaming, maybe try to squeeze in a 1700?

The CPU cooler comes with TIM, you don't need to buy it separately.

Ryzen really likes faster memory, so maybe try to get a faster kit, 3000 or 3200 MHz.

The WD Blue HDD is 5400 RPM, maybe get a 7200 RPM drive.

Why an additional hybrid drive?

You don't need the Strix 1080 to get the best performance. There are some really nice 1080s that cost less.

PSU might be a bit overkill, 650W should be fine.

The mouse (I think) uses the PTE sensor, which is really bad.

Overall, looks good

I have a 3200MHz CL14 memory kit, for my ryzen 1700X system. It doesn't make a huge difference having it clocked really high. 2666 is value for money with memory. If I could have purchased a 2666MHz I would have done, but my only options were 3200MHz or JDEC. Although the 3200MHz CL16 could be a good bet.

Sync RGB fans with motherboard RGB header.

get rid of all the garbage razer peripherals

the ornata is not mechanical, instead membrane with clickers strapped to the keys.

the mouse uses the phillips twin eye sensor, which is a good sensor but it's badly implemented by Razer.

the headphones just suck, they're meant for on the go use and sold badly because nobody wanted to wear their brand in public

and the firefly is a really bad cloth pad. just get a qck+

get a strafe rgb with reds, blues or brown switches, a g502 or g403, and a pair of hyper x cloud or cloud iis

idk

Was wondering about the PSU.

Can you confirm the mouse issue for me? I have an MX Master I use on my laptop I can pull to my desktop should I need to.

Found Corsair's RGB RAM at a higher frequency I swapped to already, and wifi is something I am looking at as my room I'm putting this into would prove difficult to string an Ethernet cable to, but I can get a card for that.

Be careful with the MX master, I have worn out the switches in mice with the same buttons, without gaming use. For games, the g502/g402 will be much better. Also be careful with the EVGA FTW graphics cards, as they have no cooling for VRMs or VRAM.

Also dump the DVI cable. Go with  display port, should give you better compatibility with the high refresh rate monitor.

One problem: that display lacks a DisplayPort connector. That said, I'm willing to get a better display if you've got one to recommend.

They didn't, but most new units would be fixed. EVGA offered recalls and replacement units for affected products.

I ordered a 1070SC in Dec last year and it was fixed out of the box with the new VRM and VRAM cooling plate.

I just noticed that card is a watercooled one-while I'm open to using that, how would one do so? Is that an all-in-one cooler there, or will I need a pump and resovoir? I'm familiar with AIOs for CPUs, not so much GPUs.

Oh. Okay. I was just telling you, as DVI is quite an old interface. Also a 2m/6ft display cable is an absolute minimum for ease of wiring up at a desk. Mine is only just long enough.

Changed the motherboard, should bring the price down a bit more but offer the same features and same great look. Yes It's an AIO Hybrid, the AIO will cool the GPU chip and the fans will cool the vrm & vram. just connect it to the case and that's all; you dont need pumps or reservoirs.

I have very little idea about what good monitors are. As for overclocking monitors, I tried overclocking mine, and it was more trouble than it was worth. I only got 2 extra Hz, and somewhat worse picture quality. Having said that though, mine are just office screens. Definitely go with G-sync, and look at color accuracy etc.

For the mass storage HDD, just get any 7200 RPM drive. Not much difference between them.

The hybrid drive decides which files are stored in the SSD cache, based on how frequently you access the files. So if you put all your games on it, it won't make a difference for most of them.

The Strix is probably one of the best 1080s, however, since I'm assuming you're not going to do LN2 overclocking on it, saving the $50 would probably be better. Unless you want Aura on the card.

If you want a review of the mouse, Rocket Jump Ninja has a review of it on YouTube. As long as you're not playing competitively, it shouldn't really matter too much, though
