What kind of motherboard should i buy?

Hi, im looking forward to build a gaming pc and i was thinking that maybe a z270 motherboard was too much, given the fact that i still need to buy a monitor with my budget. Im planning on buying 16bg of ram 2400, a gtx 1060 6bg, an intel core i7 7700, a simple ssd and a mechanic 1tb hard drive. I dont think i will overclock my processor nor my gpu. So could you help me with some other motherboard references that could work for me.

Thanks in advance :D

I don't think that you should get a 7700K with a 1060. A Ryzen 5 1600 with a GTX 1070 or used 980 Ti is a much better option -_-

CPU: Intel Core i7-5820K | Motherboard: AsRock X99 Extreme4 | Graphics Card: Gigabyte GTX 1080 G1 Gaming | RAM: 16GB G.Skill Ripjaws4 2133MHz | Storage: 1 x Samsung 860 EVO 1TB | 1 x WD Green 2TB | 1 x WD Blue 500GB | PSU: Corsair RM750x | Case: Phanteks Enthoo Pro (White) | Cooling: Arctic Freezer i32

Mice: Logitech G Pro X Superlight (main), Logitech G Pro Wireless, Razer Viper Ultimate, Zowie S1 Divina Blue, Zowie FK1-B Divina Blue, Logitech G Pro (3366 sensor), Glorious Model O, Razer Viper Mini, Logitech G305, Logitech G502, Logitech G402

well, where i live there aint no 1070 available at the moment nor in the near future, 1080 is way out of my budget and the i7 is the 7700 standard, no overclocking xD

Isolate what kind of I/O you need, then get a motherboard based on that.

Even though I don't have an overclockable CPU, I still have a Z series board because it has stuff I wanted (well that and Z-series boards were the only mITX boards around at the time)

After reading the specs, the B250 is just what i need plus it has enough usb3.1 and m.2 slots. Thanks too ;)

Have you considered Ryzen btw? I comment this on every thread I make, but I really can't see why people are buying any intel CPUs right now other than the G4560. Unless you really, really want to push frames it seems like such a waste (especially since the motherboards are more expensive)

Main Rig

CPU: Ryzen 2700X
Cooler: Corsair H150i PRO RGB 360mm Liquid Cooler
Motherboard: ASUS Crosshair VII Hero
RAM: 16GB (2x8) Trident Z RGB 3200MHZ
SSD: Samsung 960 EVO NVME SSD 1TB, Intel 1TB NVME

Graphics Card: Asus ROG Strix GTX 1080Ti OC

Case: Phanteks Evolv X
Power Supply: Corsair HX1000i Platinum-Rated

Radiator Fans: 3x Corsair ML120
Case Fans: 4x be quiet! Silent Wings 3

Yes i have, the thing is; how long have the new ryzen been on the market? Even though results and test show great reliability and performance i dont know how is it going to perform in the next years and that throws me off a little bit :/ . i know it is not the greatest argument to go against them but it is just the way i feel about itxD

If anything, it'l perform better in a few years.

Because AMD has pushed high core count CPUs at a low price, Intel has realised they have to do the same if they want to stop losing market share. As such, their new i5's are rumoured to be 6 core chips. If both Intel and AMD start making consumer 6 and 8 core chips, game developers will start to optimise games much better for more cores, meaning that in a few years it's likely a 6 core 12 thread ( or 8 core 16 thread if you want the 1700 - i'd recommend it) will outperform an i7 7700K.

You've also got to think about the fact that hardware requirements constantly go up - in a lot of the benchmarks you see with Ryzen vs the 7700K, the 7700K is under a large load while Ryzen sits at 30-60% load. Imagine what it'l be like when developers optimise and Ryzen starts using an 80% load, it'l trash the 7700K. Plus, if you decide you want to stream, do cotent creation, if you buy loads of monitors and start having multiple games open at once, you'll even see Ryzen pull ahead now.

I'd definitely go ryzen dude. More cores, more threads at a lower price.

Completely agree with @Armakar Ryzen is the way, and if you can sit on your hands for just two weeks more R3 is out.. which is basically a i7 at i3 prices.

Hardware Unboxed already did a benchmark video with simulated AMD Ryzen 3 CPUs and they couldn't keep up with the i5-7500 (that video should be pretty accurate given the fact that the whole line up is basically the same chip with disabled cores/SMT):

didn't they already do that with the R5 using R7's and they were way off.

I'll always wait for the benchmarks from the actual products.  but thanks for the vid will check it out :)

They weren't "way off", Linus also tested that method and got pretty accurate results. Even both 1400 and 1500X can't keep up with the i5-7600K, so I don't think AMD Ryzen 3 should be compared with any i7 (as you did).

How can you get a hands on a GPU? Literally here in my country all the GPU pricing have gone up by 75%.

Take the Zotac GTX 1070 Amp Extreme Edition. When I first buy it, it was around 450USD. Now it's a whopping 750USD++. The RX470 was just 200USD to begin with here, and now it is a whopping 600USD.

I am wondering how could you get a hands on those GPU and still want to build a PC by now.

And oh btw, there is literally no PSU bigger than 650w left. All of them is out of stock, obviously except you want to buy the Corsair AXi series.

If you're going up against me like

Here's my answer to save your time typing:

The R5 1500X itself can't keep up with the i5 7600K by now. It is the fact, dude. How could an R3 be equal to i7? It's like saying a Nissan GT-R is equal with the Lamborghini's. Yes, they are both a supercars but they aren't equal in both pricing and performance.
