i was wondering what would be better a usb 3.0 ac wireless adapter or a 802.11 n wireless pci x1 adapter

it will depend, PCI will be more reliable

Agreed. Will probably have less speed, but less ping and higher reliability.

 

Unless you have a 250mbps+ internet connection, i would go with the pci card.
