Problems when trying to copy files on a shared folder
Go to solution
Solved by NZLaurence,
Connect them directly with a Ethernet cable.
You need to then set a static IP on the Ethernet port for each one. I suggest setting 192.168.101.10 with a subnet mask of 255.255.255.0 for the one with the shared folder. For the other one set 192.168.101.20 with the subnet mask of 255.255.255.0. Leave gateway and DNS blank.
You should now still have internet through the wireless but be able to ping the 192.168.101.x addresses from both machines.
If you try to access the shared folders by going to \\192.168.101.10 you will be connecting through the cable. You will need to use the IP and not the name to access it.
If that doesn't work please paste the output from "ipconfig /all" from both machines.
