Windows Key From Prebuilt PC

I understand this much, that's why I'm asking how to go about reactivating it. I know the Windows install is typically tied to the exact motherboard but Ironside mentioned simply calling Microsoft support to reactivate it?

Type the key into the new install when it asks for it. Then if it fails. You can call support and you give then anouter number and they give you a code that makes it work.

My question is simple so i figure it's already been answered before, so forgive me. I had a computer prebuilt from Ironside Computers, all retail parts so no OEM HP tower type crap. I'm looking to upgrade CPU and MoBo here pretty soon so I'm wondering how the Windows install is going to work. There's a sticker on the back of my chassis with the Windows serial/key on it, and an install disk in the little extras box they sent, how would i go about installing this on a new SSD i buy for the new hardware? I spoke directly with the customer support for Ironside and they mentioned something about calling Microsoft to reset the key or reactivate it or something, any specifics on how this would work? Also, the install disk is for 8.1 since i bought the computer with 8.1, and have since upgraded to Win10. I know the free upgrade period has long since ended, would i be able to upgrade to Win10 again for free?

You can install it on an ssd and it shoudl work no problem

if you install a new motherboard and cpu it counts as a new pc and the key probably wont work

Sounds simple enough, and the Win10 upgrade? Would I still be able to go about updating for free?
