Pc gaming on wifi?

Hello. I am currently pricing out my first gaming PC build and I won't be able to connect my PC to the internet with a wired connection. I found a pcie adapter which has ac wifi( my router is also ac wifi compatible). Anyway, my PC will be upstairs in a room that is directly above my router. I've used this speed test from speedtest.net on my phone and laptop while in the upstairs room and received these results: 1) 51.88 mbps download, 47.69mbps upload, and 3ms latency

2) 75.04 download, 47.27 upload, and 3ms latency. I don't remember which is the phone and which is the laptop but, I figured this could be helpful in determining whether or not my wifi would be suitable for pc gaming. I would like your opinion on whether or not these results mean that the wifi is good enough for gaming or not and whether or not this test was a good one and if there a better methods of testing my wifi.

these speeds are good enough, but you should worry about package loss and ping. considering the decent speed, I think it should be fine. not as good as a cable, but good enough to play games. I also played on wifi for a long time, with lower speeds than what you have, but package loss killed it for me and I bought powerline adapters

Those results sound good for what they are, but they don't really paint a full picture for how they will do in online games. Best way to find out is to play some games and see how it does. Probably the most important aspect is latency (though speedtest isn't very useful for testing latency, as that will really depend on the server you're connecting to), so testing in some games that are timing critical, such as Rocket League, you should be able to tell if there is any noticeable packet drops or delay.

The speed itself shouldn't effect the gaming experience but the latency. As long as your router is reliable, doesn't drop connections much, and doesn't have a crazy restrictive firewall, then you should be fine.

id go with a powerline solution since packet loss with be an issue when you use wifi for gaming. That, and also latency.

Be aware that you need good wiring for power line to work. For example I tried power line and it worked great but if someone turned on the washing machine I suddenly had no internet...

This is fine for gaming. Sometimes you may experience packet loss but i doubt it would be that much that it will affect you

It's fine . My desktop is connected to 802.11n 2.4ghz and i'm not encountering issues . That bandwith is far and away good an enough , and latency is the most important anyway , which you won't have issues with.

I see. Thanks for the help everyone! I plan on playing games like Overwatch and Battlefield 1 casually. Unfortunately, my laptop is a chromebook (incompatible with these games) and, of course, my smartphone can't play them. My only other option is to use an older laptop that is only compatible with the n generation of wifi and uses old integrated graphics. I will still consider trying it though. I'll just assume that my actual performance will be better because the testing laptop is only n wifi compatible.

I game on wifi. The only thing I would be concerned about is reliability and interference resulting in packet loss or additional latency.
