as long as your mobo has 4 ram slots you can do 4, just get an identical kit to what you already have in there,

A friend said to me i can't add more ram in my pc build ???? I have 2x8 DDR4 3200 and i want buy 2 same more ram for get 4x8 . He said i can't do that if i eant have more ram i need to sell my 2 ram and buy 4 ddr4 stick pack ??? . He is retard ? Or no ? xD

Going back to DDR2 and before, matching sets of RAM were typically necessary for a board to work. With DDR4, that's not the case anymore. Mixing different sticks just causes the motherboard to run all your RAM at the slowest speed and timings. So, no, buying a pair of DDR4-2133 sticks wouldn't actually hurt your system or keep it from working--but it would make your Corsair sticks into the most overpriced entry-level RAM on the planet.

Your friend's not an idiot, he's just working off of old information.

I enjoy buying junk and sinking more money than it's worth into it to make it less junk.

Without more information on what your motherboard is, then it is hard to say. With DDR4 3200, it is overclocked much higher than the current rated CPU memory controller speeds. Adding additional DIMMs to the available slots (if the motherboard has them, and they are also DDR4, and the CPU is connected to them) will typically work, although reduction of clock speed may be required to reduce the strain on the IMC.

maybe he's an old fart (not likely) and has tried mixing ram in PC166/DDR days.

Or hes retart'd

Samsung 850 EVO 240 GB

138 is a good number.

I can't think of any reason why this wouldn't work, aslong as you have enough slots on your mobo and get exactly the same kit it should be okay

The question is: Do you need 32GB?

Spoiler alert:

Most likely not xD

But if you do need, yeah, you can mix it, no problem, just try to match CAS and Frequency.

Why not just go to the computer shop with your RAM and tell the guy i want more ram which matches the frequencies and bus speed of my current ram.
I did the same yesterday and bought one. Worked fine.
The only issue i was having was the Ram slots, they were configured differently so i checked the motherboard manual and boom, worked ! !
