Terrible YouTube performance

Anyone else having this? Amazon Video (I've been watching The Man In the High Castle, its really good), Netflix, and all other streaming services work just fine but YouTube seems to be struggling with loading >480p video on a 120mbps Internet connection. 

 

Today especially it cannot load videos that are more than 20min long after a while and they just lose their quality and stop loading all together. 

 

I have had the former part of this happen on my MacBook Pro as well. My Mac is using Safari and the PC is using Chrome. Both are up to date.

Its fine for me I got 20 up and loaded a 50 min video in a couple of seconds

Different browser? Restart router and modem? Does it happen all the time or occasionally? I've had problems like this with YouTube before and it sort of just fixed itself over time.

 

Disable or enable chrome hardware acceleration?

Sounds like a problem with your ISP traffic routing...

Well if it doesnt work with Chrome or Safari then it doesnt work period lol

 

It has been the worst today. Other issues were never this bad.

YouTube app performance has always been spotty. But videos don't really fail to continue loading like they do on chrome. Mostly battery runaway drain issues and low quality.

The phone app isn't loading an entire web page every time you open a link to a video, unlike your PC. How is YouTube performance in your phone's browser?

I never use the browser to watch videos

 

and the app does load a whole new page, it's just condensed in a different format. 

 

And again this happens on and off which makes me think YouTube just has completely trash servers because I just loaded a 1080p video all the way on my phone almost instantly.

What I meant is that the YouTube app (at least on Android) doesn't load nearly as much as using YouTube through my phone's browser. You could test YouTube in your phone's browser and compare the performance there with performance on your computer. Do you have any other devices that can load YouTube? If performance is generally poor and it's not a problem with your modem or router, it's probably a problem with the ISP and you might be SOL.

Literally all my devices can call up YouTube. 

 

I dont see the point tbh, Performance varies across every device depending on when I decide to load a vid. 

 

I'll pick up my iPhone and load a vid no problem, them my MacBook and have to wait 5 seconds before it tries to load, and etc. 

 

If it was the ISP I would think other video streaming platforms would be affected, but its just YouTube.
