Neweggbussiness.com has this server for $569.  It seems to include 8 300gig 10k sas drives. Is this a good deal or is it a low price for a reason?

Its a refurbished unit. The vendor (The Server Store) probably got several pallets of them for dirt cheap, fixed up most of them, and they're now selling them. There isn't going to be anything wrong with the server and it's a decent box for the price. If it's anything like the R610 then it's pretty quiet too.

Edit: That's also without the cost of shipping which will be around $100 to most places in the US.

Put link in original post. Sorry.

You can get them much cheaper.

Here is a 8 core 32gb 6i one for 150. http://www.ebay.com/itm/Dell-PowerEdge-R710-8-Core-2-5-Server-32GB-RAM-PERC6i-iDRAC6-2-Trays-/171669620457?hash=item27f84e86e9:g:BAYAAOSwyWZZU-4U

Those drives aren't very good, Just add your own. Get a h700 if you want bigger than 2tb drivers.

+1 for the ebay hype train.

I know some people are more comfortable buying from established sellers, but most of the r710s and the like you find on ebay were pulled from enterprise use and are still in good condition. And the simple fact is that you could usually buy 3 bad ones and 1 good one from ebay, and still come out cheaper than "refurbished" units from resellers.

I was able to find a refurbished g7 on ebay that, while it only had 2 drives, has 4 more cores, only cost me about 160$ shipped, is in great condition, and has a one year warranty.

One more piece of advice: if you do decide to go the ebay route, BID. Don't buy it now.

Not terrible for a refurbished server w/ a 90 day warranty. Most likely it'll be in better condition than something from eBay - but you can likely find something similar on eBay for cheaper.

The 10K SAS drives are fine, but it depends on what use-case you have. They'd be great for a Database Server or a VM Datastore. They'd be overkill for things like general file storage. Setting up those 8x 300GB drives in a RAID10 would be a decent setup for hosting an ESXi server, but you'd only get 1.2TB total usable space.
