Can LTT test the Asus XG-C100C in a work environment?

Hi

Hope this message reaches the top of the pyramid.

I've been using old server room tech (SFP+ 10GBit (DA & Fiber)) to get sections of my network @ 10GBit

But in some situations, there is no other option than copper cable.

Looking at pro cards, from intel, like the x540, my wallet says no! :)

Asus seems to have a card, the Asus XG-C100C, that could be the answer.
Prices should be around $100.

The only question that remains is, ... is is fast/stable/... and would someone notice if their x540 was swapped out ;):)

It HAS been a long time since Linus expressed his love for fast networking en server stuff in general...

I second this. A budget friendly 10Gbit roundup would be cool to see.

Yes please.

For reference, this card uses the Aquantia AQN-107 IC.

Aquantia themselves sell reference cards with this chip, but their 10gbps cards sell for $130... so in theory the Asus card has a good price.

They also sell a 5gbps maximum card ( on regular cat5e using the ethernet 802.3bz new standard) based on the AQN-108 IC for 99$ which is available here: https://www.arrow.com/en/products/aqn-108-101-sha/aquantia-corp
