6GB Palit GeForce GTX 1060 StormX to loud ?

Hey,

My budget is so small that i can only fit in the ( In germany) cheapest 1060 6gb in my pc.

The 6GB Palit GeForce GTX 1060 StormX. https://www.mindfactory.de/product_info.php/6GB-Palit-GeForce-GTX-1060-StormX-Aktiv-PCIe-3-0-x16--Retail-_1122584.html

Because it has only one fan, i wanna ask, if it gets too loud while gaming or in idle.

Thanks

Benny.

German here too^^

Do NOT buy this model. It's Garbage. I doubt the Cooler is even able to keep the card Cooled at all. EVGA Gaming (the non-SC Model with 1 Fan) has the same shitty heatsink with out heatpipes, and it's constantly in Temperature Limit of 83°C, and fans are Loud as fuck

I had the Palit Dual version, which is a MUCH better cooler (2 or 3 heatpipes, lamellas, MUCH bigger size for heat dissipation, and 2 Fans). And i returned it 2 weeks later, because i found it too Loud.

You might get away with it, if you undervolt hard, like down to 0.8 Volt, or max 0.9 volt, and underclock a bit to like 1800-1850 Mhz~ (anything that runs stable with that voltage), to reduce heat output.

If you don't care about Noise / temperatures at all, you can get any.

I would suggest getting this: https://geizhals.de/kfa-geforce-gtx-1060-exoc-60nrh7dvm6ek-a1479075.html?hloc=de

And hoping, Mindfactory will get some in the next 2-3 weeks.

Or 15€ more: https://www.proshop.de/Grafikkarten/Palit-GeForce-GTX-1060-JetStream-6GB/2560416?utm_source=geizhals&utm_medium=cpc&utm_campaign=pricesite

4-6 days they say. And the Palit Jetstream is one of the best models.

Or this: http://millionstore.com/cgi-bin/index.pl?prod=IDE257499

Or: http://millionstore.com/cgi-bin/index.pl?prod=IDE257473 (pretty much the best 1060 on the market)

Oh really? My friend has a EVGA 1060 6Gb SC, with 1 fan, but it isn't too loud and stay at around 78C under full load.

As for OP: If a large card like that is fine, then 2 fan ones are better.

Yes, the EVGA Gaming and EVGA Gaming SC (both with 1 fan, both look almost identical) have completely different Cooling designs ^^"

The "SC" Model has a 2-Heatpipe Cooler with lamellas. Look at teh procuct Pictures, between the Fan blades, you can see the differences :)

PC Games Hardware (Big german Magazine) had both tested.

Gaming: 3.2 Sone Loudness with 82-83°C (Temperature Limit --> Throttling!!)

Gaming SC: 2.5 Sone Loudness with 68°C

EVGA Released a Silent Bios, that lets the card get hotter, but instead stay more quiet. So, the Gaming SC will stay at 75-80°C, and instead be much qieter.

For References:

1060 Founder's Edition:  2.4 Sone Loudness with  73°C (Founders is MUCH better than EVGA Gaming, or Palit/Gainward StormX).

Palit Super Jetstream: 1.3 Sone Loudness with 72°C.

MSI Gaming X: 0.7 sone Loudness with 66°C

@ Palit StormX: Don't let the size fool you. The Cooler itself is round, it does NOT cover the whole area under the "graphic card-Case"

The Cooler itself has a similar size as the Fan itself. Everything else under the Cooler cover is "empty" space.
