Should I still continue to wait for vega, or am I doing it wrong?  I heard I can get a 1080 for around $499 as well xD

It was a still birth srry folks.

it comes down to, are you patient or are you not. Cause if you get a 1080 and the market gets shaken up, youll be kicking yourself. but if not, then it doesnt matter. So are you willing to wait and be patient or do you want to get a new gpu now.

Hmmmm.... I heard something about the tile-base rasterizer not being enabled. http://www.pcgameshardware.de/Vega-Codename-265481/News/AMD-Radeon-Vega-Frontier-Edition-Tiled-Based-Rasterizer-Test-1231996/ . I know it's German; gotta love google translate. Nonetheless, the tile-base rasterizer might significantly improve performance.

Why would I spend 500 more for a GPU that I can buy for less than 500$, that has better performance? xD

Vega is a still birth. Sorry

Wait for vega? Lol why? Nvidia Volta is right around the corner, wait for that.

People seem to be forgetting that Nvidia released the 1080 13 months ago. Yes, Nvidia released Pascal over a year ago and AMD's fastest GPU is still the Fury X.

Which can barely keep up with a 1070.

I'm sorry, Ryzen is cool but... AMD gpus are still way way behind.

i have faith in amd. Maybe not in this launch but the fire has been lit after nvidia and intel squished them to the point of having almost none of the market share you can bet they will be rising back and showing their competitors that they may be small, but they can do a heck of a lot. They already showed intel what they can do and they wont stop until they do the same to nvidia. again. Maybe not in vega, but it will happen.

LOL

Yeah it's funny... They built a card that isn't for gamers... And now they're half-ass marketing it for gamers. Like what Nvidia does with the Titan series.

Nvidia: "Gefore Titan X... The fastest gaming GPU in the world!!!"

Us: "Hey Nvidia, why is the Titan X $1200 dollars?"

Nvidia: "It's not for gamers"

I mean, I know what you're saying but Nvidia is not nearly as slow as Intel was when Ryzen was released. Intel was doing NOTHING for years and that's why Ryzen kicked so much ass. Nvidia is still innovating really really hard right now... They're not slowing down waiting for AMD to catch up. They know Intel will do that for them.

:D I'm not saying you should wait for it. I'm just saying you shouldn't completely dismiss the card as terrible--it seems bad for gaming. Some markets (professional-areas especially) might find the card appealing.

i know. But it will happen. Your also forgetting something. A huge market of people is in the mid to low end market, which amd currently has pretty well.

100% agree. Quadro cards exist for a reason and people buy them. not everyone's a gamer

Vega will be better than the RX 580, and there is no telling what AMD has done to the Frontier Edition cards that may or may not impact performance. And as Linus said there is the fact that drivers need to be optimised.

Now I dont expect Vega to beat a 1080ti, but I do expect it to at least compete with a 1080 if not with more fps, then with a lower price, and I think that is exactly what is going to happen.

i agree. Most of the market isnt going for the bleeding edge market anyway. They go for price to performance. Which AMD seems to have in the bag right now.

Except... They don't because 580's and 480's are over $500 right now, and even though that's only becuase of etherium mining, it's still reality.

I hope they come back, but I'm not convinced vega will do it. We need to wait at least another generation.

this only means that AMD is doing well. Their stock is gone, its not AMD controlling the prices. Nvidia is out of GPUs almost too now.

It still baffles me how a +60% overclocked Fury X gets just barely more work done than a stock Fury X...

ya. also a lot of people are using lower end amd cards, like the rx 560 and 460. many of my friends have gotten rx 460's and they are still pretty cheap comparatively.
