How many watts? Is 650w enough?

Elliot Pierson

Hey people, What size Psu should i get? will a 650w be enough?

My build:

CPU: i5 4670k

MOBO: h87i-plus

RAM: Crucial ballistix 1600 1x8gb cl8

SSD: Adata 64gb grey

HDD: Seagate Barracuda 3tb

Case: Cooler Master Elite 120 Mini-ITX (does fit full size psu)

GPU: r9 280x (most likely and it's a '600w' gpu)

Cooler: Cooler Master GeminII M4 most likely

Cheers

Don't get an unlocked cpu with an H87 chipset, but yes 650W is enough.

H87 won't let you overclock, thus there's no point in getting a 4670k, rather than a 4670 non-unlocked.

But yes, 650W is quite enough :)

b Thanks! so even though the cpu is 85w and psu 600 it'd still be fine with 650? and thank you also for telling me about the h87 not overclocking, if i can't find a z87i in New Zealand then i'll get a non k!

Cheers!

Overkill. A nice 550w would be sufficient.

Btw, you can't overclock a 4670k on an H87 mobo.

there's an asrock h87 motherboard that can overclock

Fatal1ty H87 Performance

they have a youtube video on it

the only catch is that you update the bios

the only problem is that it would ruin the form factor and not fit in the case

oh and yes, 650 watts is enough

a 280x is not a 600watt gpu, more 200-250 on full load, and even that is a bit of a stretch, 650watt will be more than enough.
