Add two more sticks of ram or replace my current two?

So my system currently has 8gb of ram which is 2x4gb sticks. I want to upgrade to 16gb.

Would it be better to add two more 4gb sticks or a single 8gb stick or should I replace my current two sticks with a 2x8gb kit?

if you have dual channel on your mobo than replace it with 2x8gb sticks, but if you have quad channel than replace with 4x4gb sticks for best performance.

Depends on your mobo.

 

If you have 2 slots spare (since you apparently can add 2x4GB) just put 2x 8GB in it to increase by 16, even better :)
