Because chrome is known to use a shit ton of ram. Its normal.

This is just another reason why I prefer firefox. 5 tabs open and only using approx 160MB ram... in fact even increasing it to 14 tabs open, only went up to 206MB.

I don't recall saying it was normal? just said it's another reason why I prefer firefox to chrome, but I get how you inferred that I guess. OP didn't actually say he was using all 16GB of ram just with chrome either, he just said that chrome had almost maxed it out, but from the screenshot, it only showed approx 4-6GB IIRC, so it's not unreasonable to infer that he was only alluding to that 4-6GB usage from chrome tabs he showed in the screenshot.

Chrome runs tabs in sandboxes, so they can't access each other which makes it look like it does in the picture + yea it uses a shit ton of ram
