Anyone knows if the heatsink on this RAM can be easily removed? (I don't have this RAM but I am considering to buy it, won't fit with that heatsink).

the red fin slides off and the sides can be removed with a but of heat to loosen the thermal pads.

so yeah, easy

There is away but it would void your warranty on the memory. If you not want the heatsink then I would look for the same kind of ram with out it, Kingston for example.

Have you tried turning it off and on again?

Thanks. I was looking at the pictures on phone and I haven't noticed the screw. I can clearly see it now.

What about this RAM? I can get it for way cheaper but I see no screws there.

Held just by thermal pads?

I don't really care about that warranty. Kingston is more expensive with worse CL and mostly unavailable.

I've never had a issue with kingston stuff, RAM,SSDs,USBs,SD cards etc. Fair enough on the warranty though, you should make sure all the sticks work before amputating them.

Sure, that's the plan. Intel stock heatsink to test RAM, then rip off the heatsink from RAM and throw my tower cooler on CPU.

I really don't care about the brand, the sticks from Kingston that are available are just more expensive and slower. I plan to get low CL kit at 2400MHz to have better chance with overclocking it higher.

My current Crucial kit can go from 1600MHz 9-9-9-24 to 2200MHz 10-11-11-30 (24/7 stable) but I am unable to make it boot at higher speeds.

I already have a nice PC and really no reason to move away from Haswell i7, which I plan to delid to push it further as I am hitting temperature wall at 4.6GHz because 2 cores are 10°C higher above the others.

probably better off with the cheaper kit.

At least it's still 2400 C10
