Is it worth to build a ethereum miner now ?

I am thinking of building one and looking at parts now, so will it still be profitable in the future, will I be able to mine other currency if ether dies out or is not profitable anymore? I am willing to spend 800 dollars what am I looking at now, will Nvidia GPUs work, any suggestions?

nope.

nvidia is worse at ETH than AMD, so mine zcash.

but if eth drops, everything drops. bitcoin isn't feasible at all.

Ryzen 5 3600 stock | 2x16GB C13 3200MHz (AFR) | GTX 760 (Sold the VII)| ASUS Prime X570-P | 6TB WD Gold (128MB Cache, 2017)

Samsung 850 EVO 240 GB

138 is a good number.

bitcoin is feasible its just not what people think it is its not for day to day transactions its a long term holding account. coins like dash and eth are the workhorses of the crypto world

Sure, some are down, but that's just regular day-to-day variation in cost. The only thing that has seen a tangible drop in value is ETH after the whole blockchain debacle this week.

I mean it really depends if you are willing to take the risk. Ethereum is moving to casper which will more or less kill mining for it.

It's going to be implemented around September 1st I believe. The risk is in mining other coins afterwards or selling your rig and hoping you made enough money mining to pay back the initial cost.

Don't talk about stale memes.
