What CPU to get for gaming and music production

Hey guys!

Im new to the forum, I really like building new computers, but at the moment im a bit torn. I'm sitting with an old AMD FX 6350, I don't know what to get yet to replace it, I have an overclockable 1150 and 1151 motherboard. I'm thinking of buying a used CPU, not really sure what to get, probably an i7, but which one? in Sweden where I live I can get a 4770, 4790 etc for roughly the same price as an i5 7600k, would it be better to get the old i7's? What I use the computer for is pretty much gaming and music production, I recently bought a used GTX 1060 3gb, which probably would get bottlenecked by the 6350.

Btw I don't know what it's like in the rest of the world, but a lot of the time I can get ddr4 for a cheaper price than ddr3, I don't know if it's just luck or something else. Although I'm not sure if im gonna use it I picked up 4gb of ddr 4 (used) although only 2133mhz for around 10 dollars.

Ryzen 5 1600. Best all rounder right now, with it's great price and 6c/12t.

EDIT: Nvm, you want Intel. If you can find a used i7 at a decent price, I'd go for that. more thread will help with multitasking and editing and such.

I've thought about that, although then I have to get a new motherboard as well. I can get the CPU here for around 245 us dollars with a coupon lol.

I already have a PSU, 8gb of ddr4, a 750gb ssd, I guess I could sell the other motherboards, this current rig, and a few hard drives that I don't use. I just want to get the most for my money. Thinking about selling the ssd of 750gb too, it's entirely new, and I'd probably get more than what I bought it for, since I bought it quite cheap during black friday.

What's your total budget for an upgrade?

To be honest I don't really have a budget, so I could just get a am4 motherboard and the cpu, but I want to make sure that I get a good deal, so I guess the safest thing for me to do would be to sell some old stuff and then buy a motherboard and the cpu. I prefer to use more than 8gb of ddr 4 ram too. I could get 16gb ddr 4 mhz for around 112 us dollars (at best). I could get the 1600x for around 20 bucks more, but I've heard that it's not much of a difference compared to the regular 1600 in terms of overclocking, not sure if that's true or not.

I agree with R5 1600 but wouldn't be better Gigabyte's motherboard ?

Probably but what it came down to was the price, and that it could handle 64gb of ram, which the cheaper ones couldn't.
