Hi Everyone,

I built my first computer around 4 years ago now and am looking to upgrade into something better in order to be both productive and enjoyable in terms of gaming. What do you guys typically do with your old pc hardware? I think recycling my old pc hardware would be a waste as it's still usable and I've never sold anything online or through something like kijiji, craigslist whatsoever.

How do you guys go about dealing with your old pc hardware? Is it sketchy to sell old hardware to someone through kijiji or craigslist? I've heard of people being robbed before... is there a way to prevent that? I don't really know how ebay works either ...but I get the general concept. I just don't really know how the seller is protected.

Parts I'm looking to sell:

i5-3570k (overclocked to 4.6GHz)

Asus P8Z77-V LK motherboard

Corsair HX 650 - may or may not sell this because it's perfectly good still

Corsair Vengeance DDR3 1333 (or maybe it was 1600MHz I can't remember) 2x8GB ram modules (overclocked to 1800MHz)

Nvidia GTX 660TI PE OC - power limit maxed, overclocked slightly by 100MHz for memory and 20MHz clock speed.

Seagate Barracuda 1TB HDD 7200rpm

I'm based in Vancouver, Canada if that helps :) Thanks!

You usually get more people looking to buy if you sell the whole system rather than individual parts, it is then easier for people that have no knowledge of PC's. Also, if you are selling through eBay or any other site make sure you use PayPal as they generally protect you in the case of a bad buyer etc

You can definitely sell the 3570k + mobo + ram for around 150-200 bucks, and you could sell the 660 TI for around 40-50$.

Thank you for the replies everyone! :)

I guess I should start listing the system as a whole? I don't really want to sell  my PC case though haha I'm using a Fractal Define R5 and I quite love it!

Whoa a 3570k + mobo + ram can go for 150-200 bucks still? I wouldn't mind that. The graphics card yea... hahaha uhh it's so outdated that I don't really know how it can still run some modern titles.

A newer graphics card (probably a GTX1060) and an SSD for the OS is all you'll need to get as that setup can still boogie with the best of them and still get good framerates even with AAA titles.

Really? That's good to know hahaha

I can't seem to make the CPU do everything I'd like to do just cause it seems underpowered. My CPU runs close to max usage whenever I play GTA V and I'd like to be able to do more than just be playing a game at the same time; this is why I'm looking to upgrade.

But where would I find one where I wouldn't get ripped off? I might as well get a new CPU

I've bought 5 CPUs on ebay and all have been good. Buy from a seller with good feed back, If you can find a "preferred seller". When buying older CPUs you never "might as well get new". The whole point of buying an older high end is for the value. New old stock is priced high due to supply VS demand, and there is no value there.

The i7 3770K is $210/220 VS the Xeon at $124/134. You might be able to BCLK the Xeon but IDK.

Here are some other 4C/8T processors that should fit your board.
