The 3:2 aspect ratio of the surface laptop and surface book is something I adore.

I use a laptop mainly for programming so the specs are fine for me, although I wouldn't mind a bit more storage. It's the aspect ratio that's seems to be drawing me in the most.

Are there any other laptops beside a mac with the same aspect ratio?

The Chromebook Pixel was a notebook with a 12.85 inch touchscreen at a 2,560x1,700 resolution and at a 3:2 aspect ratio. Sadly launch prices were really expensive (I'm talking about four-digit prices) and the whole line was discontinued, so there is still a chance for secondhand Chromebook Pixels.

Maybe want a modern one? There is the Samsung Chromebook Plus or Pro. Its touchscreen does have the same 3:2 aspect ratio as with the Pixel, but at a slightly lower resolution of 2400x1600 and at a slightly smaller size of 12.3 inches. It also has a built-in stylus. It can also be converted into a tablet by flipping the screen inverse unlike the Pixel. However, it only has 2 processor configurations: an SoC with an ARM processor for the Plus version, or the Intel Core m3-6y30 for the Pro version, so it might be slower than the Pixel. Also, the keyboard for both variants aren't backlit.

Beyond that, I probably have to do more searching for some more of laptops with 3:2 aspect ratio.

I edit after I post, so wait until I'm done editing if you're about to reply.

Damn you're right.

Still not a bad ratio.

Looks like my option is surface or nothing. Only with the laptop was more configurable. To get a 512ssd you have to go for the 16gb ram and the i7

LG gram also has 16:10

Surface laptop seems really cool. But deeper investigation makes me more hesitant. The material it's built in...is not good. Wears down fast.

Also, all components are soldered, so when its SSD ends its lifespan, it's already dead, thus forcing you to buy another laptop.

I wish it was a more common ratio. It feels so right to me when using it.

I'll probably bite the bullet for a surface laptop. Wish the burgandy was in the UK :(

I've looked at the mbp and for what I want if get the £1450 one where as the £1250 surface would fit my need.

Also I need windows, which is a big factor here.

I didnt know about how un-upgradable it was though. That really is a turn off. Maybe their next iteration will learn from this.

Why do you need Windows?

For once I agree with you LOL. I think the Surface line is incredibly overpriced for what it offers. For the best Windows experience, yes the Surface is the best, but Windows isn't a unique experience...so rip there.
