After visiting two stores in town i found both out of Stem cards with the exception of Dota 2 Steam cards. I did a cursory Gogle search and could not find a concrete answer yes or no as to whether they would work for general Steam purchases. I took a chance buying two and am happy to say they both went right into the Steam wallet and I was able to purchase Playerunknown's Battleground. Installing now and hope its as good as it looks.

okay so i googled it and fond a seller online of steam card with DOTA2 and a pic of a dota 2 player on it

it said this in the desc

Provides $20 for you to spend on content from Steam Expand your entertainment collection with thousands of titles, which span various genres and include best sellers, indie hits, casual hits and more Take your gaming experience to the max

so it should just be steam wallet money

EDIT

Answer:
Yes. The Dota 2 picture is a little misleading but the funds from the card are transferred to your steam wallet, which means it can be used for anything on steam.

I often see people offering advice with no indication they actually have experience with the topic themselves. And no one ever follows up with an outcome. I just wanted to say here that it works without a doubt.
