144hz monitor

peibolrz
Go to solution Solved by Glenwing,

It can be, but how noticeable is dependent on the content. The slower the content is, the lower the threshold is, for higher framerates to be indistinguishable. Video of slow clouds moving or something like that, even 30 to 60 fps is indistinguishable, and in fact one could take the extreme example of a completely stationary object, in that case 1 fps would be indistinguishable from 1000. In games like league of legends, 144 Hz is barely noticeable for me personally, but in games with faster and sharper movements involved like first person shooters, yes it's certainly noticeable above 60 Hz.

I have a friend who says that above 59,4 fps yo don't notice the diffrence i think this is bullshit . Does anyone has a 144hz monitor that can confirm this?

Many do own 144hz here, and yes he is bullshit. But some people genuinely cannot tell the difference because of their old age or their eyes being different. so not everyone has the same effect.

LED PWM dimming in old 144hz monitors also can cause nausea headaces, ect.

If you're happy with 1080p or 1440p (whichever you are on), then a higher refresh rate would be better than stepping up the resolution. And for racing games, I think a curved ultrawide would be awesome, but expensive.

What size monitor are you looking for? I'd say 1080p is good on a 21"-23" screen, and 1440p is what you want for 27". You don't really need 4K unless you want it super sharp or are getting a massive screen.

It's a matter of personal preference really, I prefer 1440p myself but I don't game that much.

It's not an IPS panel, but it looks pretty good.

They look like they're all TN panels, so I'd look for an Asus or other reputable brand's offering with good reviews, and get that.

The most obvious difference you will see is desktop operations like mouse movement, dragging a window, transitions etc.

The choppiness of 60Hz is very noticeable once you get used to high refresh rate

In games you will definitely feel the smoother motion

What games are you playing? You need to be able to drive a 144Hz monitor to really feel the benefit.
