No, you need an 1151 (Z270) motherboard for the 7700k.

He's not asking if he can use 7700k with an x299 board(I don't think), he's just asking if a 7700k will still work fine and saying he wants to use this board https://www.amazon.com/Gigabyte-Gaming-Motherboard-LGA1151-GA-Z270X-Gaming/dp/B01N4F25ZH which is lga 1151, and then he's asking someone to explain the video.

the x299 gaming 9, the one at computex

You cannot use that one with a 7700K

the important part is the socket

if you look at the spec sheet on intel ARK, the 7700K uses the LGA 1151 socket, while the X299 motherboards have a 2066 socket.

you need a CPU and Motherboard with the same socket.

7700k is fine, and will be for awhile likely. The x299 is a joke of a launch. The CPUs aren't even releasing until 2018. The 18c CPU was a very last minute decision, PCIe lanes are limited. Kaby-LaKe X should not exist, I honestly will lose respect for anyone that buys Kaby Lake X. The whole thing was thrown together because Intel can't handle competition

Linus's complaints boil down to two main things:

- Kaby Lake X

This is basically retardation on intel's part. the 6-core and above core i7s and core i9s support 8 RAM slots (quad channel memory, 2 slots per channel), while the normal, consumer CPUs, only support 4 slots (dual channel memory, 2 slots per channel). however, intel made the 7740K, which is basically a 7700K which fits in a 2066 Socket. this is a problem, because it means that if you put a Kaby-lake-X CPU (7640K or 7740K) into an X299 board, you can't use all the features of the motherboard. Simply dumb, especially since LITERALLY the same chip can be found on the mainstream, LGA 1151 socket.

- 18 Core Processors / Raid Keys (Intel Seems Unready)

This is basically Linus reflecting on intel's dumb business decisions. They require people to buy aftermarket keys to use some features of the motherboard, which is really dumb, since this is supposed to be the high-end chipset, with everything enabled. so intel basically gives a big "fuck you" to everyone who buys an X299 motherboard and wants to use VROC (since it requires an aftermarket key). also, Linus rants that Intel seems very unprepared. the X299 launch was rushed, and the 18-core CPU is basically intel's dumb reaction to AMD threadripper, but it actually is a really bad response, since it's marginally better, but is more than double the price.

The 6, 8, and 10 core CPUs are being released in a few weeks.  There was a video posted of a 10 core going 5.0GHz on all cores under a AIO.  That is no joke.

ok. so i will eather stay with x99, or go to ryzen. but i want to use a 1080TI, if u use a 1080ti with a 7700k, will it beat two 580s in crossfire with a AMD Ryzen 7 1700X?

What processor are you currently using, X99 (socket 2011v3) isn't compatible with the 7700K.

A 1080Ti will beat 2 580s in crossfire, neither of those two situations will be CPU bound in the majority of normal use cases so the 7700K and 1700X are meaningless in that comparison.

If you are going to get Ryzen, get a 1700 (or 1600 if you won't need all 8 cores), it is the same chip as the 1700X and can be overclocked to give around the same performance within margin of error at a significant reduced cost.
