Headset decision

Hello members of the LTT forum , i wanted your advice on a new headset , used for games like (csgo , dota 2 , nfs , etc..). Sound is really improtant to me and i dont know to which headset i should move on!

 

Currently I own the razer kraken 7,1 which after the time that i owned them , I dislike them very much , although the sound is excelent my ears hurt after 2-3 hours.

 

So i was looking for over ear headsets and i am down to 2.

The HyperX Cloud (either cloud 1 or 2) (53mm drivers)

The Asus Strix 2.0  (60 mm drivers)

 

I want a stereo headset , I dont really care about 7.1 which I feel like it does not affect anything on my gameplay ( I might be wrong , please correct me if I am)

 

So which one I should buy and why?

 

I care about the microphone quality as well as bass quality (low freq in audio)

I used to have the g633. On the ears they were really comfortable, but for me atleast the headband created a hotspot on my head. This made so the top of the head hurt after like 30 minutes, and needed to be tilted forward or backward. I have a better time recommending the cloud 2, I use them myself. Better headset for the money in my opinion.

My recommendation is to go with HD558 and modmic 4.0 omnidirectional. You can get HD558 for $100 and modmic 4.0 is $45 + usb dac for mic that costs $6-10. So that's $155 and you're getting a setup with completely removable cable, a headphone that sounds good (if you've never really owned a proper pair of headphone, this will be the best thing you'll ever hear), a properly good sounding mic because let's face it hyperX cloud mic sounds pretty damn horrible (i mean it's a $10 mic capsule) and the USB DAC (or rather it's ADC in this case) for mic is to avoid problem with motherboard mic input

I dont have that amount of cash (forgot to put it on my post) thats why I am looking about those 2 (its 70 euros the asus strix 2.0 and 80 the hyperX cloud

I am sure that most people will strongly disagree with me, but the mic from my webcam (Logitech C170) gets the job done. It is the cheapest/most basic webcam you can buy. It works perfectly fine for gaming. And it doesn't add extra bulk or wires on my headphone. 

 

I see that the mod mic sells for $50~$70 (depending on the model you buy). That pricing doesn't seem competitive to me at all. I'd rather have an desktop Mic like a Blu Snowball (or simply my webcam because it gets the job done with flying colors).

Thanks for the replies guys , I appreciate you all , I have decided to go with the hyperX Cloud 2 , I feel the microphone is good for streaming and for gaming (for now), I tried them and my ears fit perfectly which translates that I wont have any comfort issues! I just need to sell my kraken 7.1 first and then i ll pick the hyperx!

There are two "headset"s that I can recommend from my experience.

 

1. Sennheiser PC360 and maybe its variants (G4ME Zero and ONE are both iteration of this headset). I only have experience with PC360 but if they are any similar, variants should be fine.

 

2. Audio Technica ATH-AD(G)1/X - My previous go-to headset for gaming only. And maybe I will be going back to this if Modmic keeps being shit and annoys me.
