Hello all -

Forgive my noob knowledge - I am only getting around 25-25 Mbps while downloading BF1, but I am using a CAT5 cable plugged into my motherboard from a Wi-Fi range extender in my room. I'm guessing this is a (massive) bottleneck, limiting the way bigger potential of the CAT5 cable.  Although I have no way of physically connecting to the router itself. It's in the attic. Any way to alleviate this bottleneck?

You're technically still using wifi

it just extend from your wifi extender

it doesn't matter even if you connected with fiber through your wifi extender, your internet source is from your wifi extender.

True. That's what I thought it was. Can I use a power line connection to resolve this?

You can try - Powerline Ethernet generally operates faster than WIFI, but it's highly dependent on the quality and age of your internal electrical wiring.

Bad wiring, or old wiring (especially if they used Aluminum instead of Copper wiring) can significantly hamper your potential speeds.

Just make sure to buy the Powerline kit from a retailer that offers hassle free returns (Such as Walmart or Best Buy). Buy it, try it, and if it doesn't work... return it.
