Getting Ram to run at 2800 with Ryzen

1chalupa

So I Just finished building my new rig. Specs Below:

PCPartPicker part list: https://pcpartpicker.com/list/r4NXBP
Price breakdown by merchant: https://pcpartpicker.com/list/r4NXBP/by_merchant/

CPU: AMD - Ryzen 7 1700X 3.4GHz 8-Core Processor
CPU Cooler: Corsair - H100i 77.0 CFM Liquid CPU Cooler
Motherboard: Asus - PRIME X370-PRO ATX AM4 Motherboard
Memory: G.Skill - Ripjaws 4 series 32GB (4 x 8GB) DDR4-2800 Memory
Storage: Samsung - 850 EVO-Series 500GB 2.5" Solid State Drive
Case: Fractal Design - Define R5 Blackout Edition ATX Mid Tower Case
Operating System: Microsoft - Windows 10 Home OEM 64-bit

I had a 780ti from my old rig and HDD's

I am trying to get my ram to run at the rated 2800Mhz and everytime I enable DOCP it will not boot and the bios reports "overclocking failed"

Right now the ram will only run at 2133Mhz

The exact model number of the ram kit I have is: F4-2800C16Q-32GRK

How can I get the ram to run faster or should return the ram and get a different kit

Just checked..... The kit I have is not listed on the X370-Pro QVL list..... is that my issue??

You can't run 2800 on Ryzen yet :) try 2666 instead.

EDIT: Also remember to set voltage to 1.35v and to loosen timings

I love computer hardware and feel free to ask me anything about that (or phones). I especially like SSDs. But please do not ask me anything about Networking, programming, command line stuff, or any relatively hard software stuff. I know next to nothing about that.

only some 16 GB can run up tp 3600mhz, on AsusCrosshair boards with lots of tinkering.
