you need thunderbolt or to take out your wifi chip to connect an eGPU.

your laptop probably doesn't have TB2 or 3, and you probably want wifi.

how much of a bottle neck would there be?

well.. quite a lot seeing you cant even plug it in ;)

as for the "in the place of wifi card" solutions.. a fellow forum user tried it out, and it turns out that it's essentially not worth your trouble.

You might want to tell us resolution, gpu and what port you are going to plug it into

it has a DVI-D a VGA and an S-Video port on the back it also has a USB pot for mice and 5 other USB ports that dont work with my mouse and are slighty different looking than the 1 usb port that works with my mouse, they do work with thing like thumb drives and external drives

It would be an insane bottleneck. You'd be trying to run a GPU on USB 2 speeds, and it sounds like it wouldn't give more performance than the ATI thing in there.

Either way, what you'd have to pay for an external dock and GPU is enough to get a whole new laptop that can play some games, so you should do that :)

Well while we're at the whole overkill solutions, you can also buy a $7000 BGA reflowing machine and put a better CPU in there :D

Ok I've derailed enough

Not great options, and not mxm, but you can seem to put a 7900gtx in there and thats gonna be hot. And you still at directx 9c.

not really

on windows its quite easy, just run an external bootloader like clover, download dsdt, then modify dsdt (add 5 lines to it) and then compile it, then get the bootloader to load it at boot time. OSX/Linux work out of the box.

and the windows steps are only if your PC doesnt dedicate enough memory for a 256MB GPU like Maxwell/Pascal/All AMD cards. Kepler and Thermi are 128MB and work well

AMD are shit for eGPU as they dont have compression features like Nvidia cards.

idk
