Premium keyboards

aprofile

Hi,

I am considering purchasing a masterkeys pro s in a month or so to replace a wireless keyboard that I've been using for ages and keeps glitching. I was wondering if it is worth getting a good mechanical keyboard and pay a bit more or get a more budget oriented or mid-range keyboard for a bit less. Tenkeyless is preferable if you have any mid-range suggestions but not a deal breaker if it's missing. I am going to be mostly using this for gaming but the closest I come to competitive gaming is tf2 or eso. I will be programming on this keyboard so it needs to be confortable. Please note I have about £100 budget for this (but it is fairly flexible) and live in the UK.

Thanks in advance.

I say that over spending on mice is 100000% worth it, my Corsair M65 RGB is the best thing ever, playing CS:GO has been so much better.

However I can not speak the same for Keyboards, sure mechanic fancy keyboards are a god damn great luxury but they honestly matter a lot less if you can find a decent cheap one... but this is my humble opinion.

I got the Pro S RGB with MX Browns and have not regretted it for a single second. Love this keyboard.

Sure it was quite a bit of money, but you buy a keyboard that will last you ages (or at least I hope it will).

I have written a review on it if you would like more in depth info. Basically an awesome keyboard, software is lacking though. No fancy custom effects either (without just leaving an .exe open).

The Redragon K552 is cheap and not too bad.

Don't forget to "Quote" when replying so we can see it.

Thanks. Seems like I'd be getting the same model if I got one. From what you say I guess you get what you pay for?

Fair enough. I don't play CS:GO and just bought a mouse so might hold off on buying a mouse.

Well the hardware is nothing to complain about (maybe except for the left angled cable, thankfully detachable though), but in terms of software it's somewhat lackluster. Not sure if that is something they can or will improve in the future.

I did replace the keycaps for translucent one though, which really brings out the LEDs much better.

Nice. Is the cable micro USB? If so could I pick up a nice braided straight cable for it? I was having a look at keycaps but it's kinda inconvenient buying them in the UK.

Micro USB, just like many smartphones have. Haven't tried it with any other cable the. The one included though, so can't comment on if it works with just any cable (I will be able to try this evening)

Masterkeys are a great choice for TKL RGB. Next step up in that category would be – actually, I think a modded Masterkeys is the endgame for RGB TKL keyboards. Next step down would probably be an E-element. Solid build quality, Outemu blues are good switches. Decent modding platform as it can hot-swap switches.

Thanks. I think I'm leaning towards the masterkeys on that one. I think the font on the e-element is a bit naff looking and I don't much like the lighting. Thanks for the suggestion and thoughts though.

I generally prefer minimal branding and a lack of "Xtreme gamer" stuff like weird fonts.
