I was going for a used TV and the guy wanted 50 I asked $30 then he said $40 then I said $35 then he said 40 again then you know what I did $35 and I also said if not 35 I'm out and he was done

Well you did ask him to give you a 30% off from the $50 starting price. I would have been happy with the 20% off unless it a really bad/small TV.
