Hello there

I built my own pc recently around 2 months ago, it ha been working fine with no issues. Just yesterday I wa playing H1Z1 with my mate when all of a sudden my screen just went black! I could still hear my mate in discord and was able to have a conversation with him. After trying everything I restarted my PC, when I did this I saw the bios load and the windows loading screen, however straight  after this it shows a black screen with a horizontal white bar and little coloured pixels. This morning I tried the same thing and was given the "your pc ran into a problem" after I restarted I landed on the windows desktop. I decided to test if everything was ok, I launched Cs go and everything seemed to be fine but as soon as I turned on fps max to infinite, my screen went black and the pc fans went into bloody airport mode, the whole thing whirring really loud.

Any suggestions on how to fix this?

I don't have the receipt from the store will that be a problem?

Or do I go to gigabytes warranty website?

Nah you just need the box. It will have some stickers on it. Go to GIGABYTE warranty.

Dat GPU sounds dead. My condolences.

This could seem like a shot in the dark but I noticed a flashing led light just above the PCIE connector to the GPU. I did some research and this seems to mean a unstable PCIE voltage, could that be the issue. If so how do I fix it?

I'd try the above steps (try iGPU in a game, switch PCI slots, reinstall drivers, maybe check your windows also) before RMA'ing it, also if you have a riser or something like that, try removing that from the equation also. (I got the PCI light turn on having previously been fine, was my riser that was on the fritz.)

When you say check windows what do you mean?

If *all* the fans are spinning up it means the system has become unresponsive. How is everyone saying this is a faulty video card straight off the bat?

Have you got another PC / friends PC that uses an nvidia card you can try the card in?

Are there any error messages in the System Event Log at the time of the crash?

Do you see any popups when it occurs - like an error that the Nvidia Driver has become unresponsive?

It sounds like a power issue - this *could* be the card, or it could be a power supply problem or potentially even a motherboard issue.

Hi all I believe I have solved the issue after messing around with afterburner I saw to my horror that GPU fan is auto set to zero, I tried stopping that only to cause afterburner to crash! I reinstalled and it seem to be ok able to turn fps max on Cs go and not crash! Thanks for your help

Which GTX1070 is this out of curiosity? I have a EVGA GTX1070FTW and when I first got it I had the same issue with the fans. While my system didnt crash, the card was getting extremely hot which was when I realised the fans werent kicking in.  I installed EVGA ELEET and the fans were set at zero, I set a fan curve, then back to auto which resolved it.

I think the same scenario happened to mine, was on youtube then my pc hanged, nothing helps until i forced reboot, then when i went to the asus "loading" screen where you can hit f2 or delete to get into bios, i can see partially on my screen there's some artifact thingie on the monitor, and I thought shit it can't be my gpu, so made a few more forced reboots it finally went to loading windows then hanged there, couple of mins later, "your pc ran into a problem" message appeared, then it starts artifacting again. After serveral tries i decided to  just do a fresh windows 10 install, everything became normal afterwards, p.s rocking a 980ti hof. I really didn't bothered checking this and that, if my fresh windows install didn't work then i would check my hardware.
