Selling my GTX 1070?

Should I sell my GTX 1070 that's being bottlenecked by my i5 6400?

Like, it bottlenecks, seriously.

I'll sell it and get something cheap like a 3gb 1060 that I had before, which ran perfectly with my i5.

I have 8gb DDR4 2133mhz, B150 mATX Gigabyte board, and 750w EVGA Supernova.

Or, should I just wait until I get enough money for Ryzen 5 1600x, and a X370 motherboard? (I want sli okay)

I do game development and a crap ton of multitasking.

I also need some money so....

lol no dont sell your video card, what do you mean by bottlenecking, like stuttering issues or what not? I gurantee you will regret it. I can say when i had 8gb of ram in my system i had lots of stuttering (also have an i5) and after upgrading to 16gb it was gone. Also, are you running the same settings as your 1060 or higher?

Wait really? Just getting 16gb of DDR4 RAM would solve it?

Yeah its stuttering, unsually really low framerates in games, and framerate drops.

i5 is bottlenecking the system, not ram.

GET AN i7!!!

Even if the 1070 was bottlenecked (i.e. G4560 and 1070) its better to keep the OP GPU and just upgrade the CPU rather than downgrading and losing money while doing it.

Lol yes when I played GTA v with 8gb of ram the game would stutter after like 10 minutes. Downloaded nzxt cam and saw memory leak issues were happening. CPU usage was also unusually high, at around 99%. I would download nzxt cam because it shows how much ram is usable and compared to how much ram the game is using. upgraded to 16gb and the game doesn't stutter and CPU usage stays at 70 to 80% usage now. An i5 6400 should not bottleneck a 1070 THAT hard, there should only be a little decrease in fps

Also played Forza horizon 3 and guess what? That game stuttered like hell! Constantly accessing more ram than I had, causing massive stuttering and frame drops. After upgrading to 16gb the game was stutter free!

Also keep note that if you plan to play games and YouTube at the same time and other multitasking tasks like this you will want to get an i7 later on. in my case when I game I only play the game and don't run background task since this will cause slight stuttering.

Could I just get an i7 6700k with the b150 motherboard and slap on a hyper 212 evo?

Would everything work? I just want the slight core/turbo clocks.

So you own a b150? you should buy an i7 7700 if you're willing to update the BIOS, it'll be better than the 6700k since you can't overclock.

Okay? The i7 6700k's out of the box turbo clocks are the same as the i7 7700, and the i7 6700k is cheaper than the i7-7700...

And obviously I'm not going to overclock the 6700k, I just want the "out of the box" clocks.

"cheaper", the 7700 comes with a cooler and has 65w TDP, it'll run cold and silent, the 6700k will force you into buying a cooler that will be bothering to mount like the 212 evo.

But do as suits you, I feel I'm bothering ya.

Hmm....

I live near a microcenter and they have some i7 6700k's open boxed for $260, yet the i7 7700 there is $290.

I just wanna know if my computer would still work with a "k" processor on a B150 motherboard.
