Backup Opinions

Hey question for you guys,

My moms computer has 2-1TB WD Blues in it. Only one is in uses as I've wanted to setup backups or something. She has a small book keeping business so daily backups would be ideal. With this whole ransom ware scare, what is the best option. Linus had mentioned snap shots on last WAN Show, what are the hardware requirements for that?

Thanks

Backing up to another internal disk will most likely not be of any help in case she get hit with ransomware as it will encrypt that disk as well as well as any network folders the infected computer has write access to. Backup to an external device only connected whilst doing the backup is the most secure in this situation.

backup it up sing your favorite backup program or just use the one in windows, then unplug the drive when its not being backed up.

Ok so if using an external drive is the best then there is no way to automate it?
