First intel pc help please

I picked up an i3 pc of someone moving out ive upgraded the psu and and added a gtx 750 ti i want to upgrade the cpu but the socket says lga 115x so dose that mean its cross compatable or do i have to count each pin to find out?

if you know the excant model of the cpu (say i3 2100 or so) just google it and open intel site (should be first)

What is the exact CPU name?

you can only upgrade using a processor that's the exact same socket as your motherboard.

Press Win Key + Pause/Break then tell us the details about what is written after "Processor" if not, post the screenshot of that window.

There are different generations of i3's.

There's LGA 1155, 1150 and 1151. The CPU's must be paired with the correct motherboard to fit.

Even if you can physically put them in the socket they will not work unless they're compatible.

 

So depending on the i3 and which motherboard you can upgrade to a better CPU assuming you know which motherboard it is.

Its the i3-530. But a google search says its either 1156 or 1155.

It's 1156, the highest CPU you could go to would be an i7 880.
