Any Free Good Video Editing Software?

So, I really want to make small videos for me and my friends but I CAN'T find a program that doesn't cost money, I'm really not asking for much here at all, All I want to do is literally just cut out parts of video and maybe put audio in the background, And I dont wanna pirate stuff because I'll probably get 50000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000 Different malware types and I'll feel guilty, Does anyone know a risk-free editing software that allows me to cut videos? Ik youtube has a built in one, But I feel like it's cluncky and I wanna do it BEFORE the video is posted. thanks!

Yeah they just do that for publicity, I've been using it for a few years and it's perfectly safe as far as I've found out. Never had a problem. Just a basic and pretty light video editor.
