Is the micro stutter bad?

Depends whether you notice it or not. Some games aren't optimized well for SLI.

I've been running multi Cards in my Rigs (including tri SLi) since GTX 280's...if Micro Stutter was an issue I certainly would stay away.....nothing but good things to say about running SLi.....most games (popular DX11 Titles) are optimized with the appropriate SLi Profiles either at launch or very shortly after launch.

@Henrybrooks

I'm running two 680s and honestly I find myself turning the 2nd one off 90% of the time.

Many games don't play well with SLI [especially many Indie games don't even start], there's an aeons old bug with 1440p + SLI, Chrome + SLI, and it's more of a nuisance than worth the money tbh.

And Farcry 3 / Blood Dragon has horrible micro stutter with SLI.

Frost upon these cigarettes.... lipstick on the window pane...

I just got my new system running (first one with SLI) but I haven't noticed any issues so far and I'm pretty sensitive to graphical issues.  NVIDIA driver support is (IMO) much better than AMD and their SLI scales better too.  With that being said, I wouldn't get another 660ti, I'd be looking at a 780 classified from EVGA to overclock or two if you really want to go all out.  Those are a steal at $550ish...

Micro stutter does exist when playingthe newer titles and can be a bit annoying at times.

As we know SLI is better than Xfire but it isnt perfect !

Some anomalies do exist still ..
