1080ti or 1080 sli?

TonyTheNain

Hello!

Ok so I have a simple question:

Buy a second 1080 for SLI or sell my current 1080 and buy a 1080ti? (I play GTA V, Battlefield 1, Rainbow Six Siege, BeamNG, Just Cause 3... these types of games)

Thank you!

Even with the games with SLI support you will still get shuddering. I'd prefer to go 1080ti than getting two 1080's

Is that still an issue?  I remember hearing about it years ago but for the longest time many people have said it's pretty much gone

Solve your own audio issues  |  First Steps with RPi 3  |  Humidity & Condensation  |  Sleep & Hibernation  |  Overclocking RAM  |  Making Backups  |  Displays  |  4K / 8K / 16K / etc.  |  Do I need 80+ Platinum?

If you can read this you're using the wrong theme.  You can change it at the bottom.

If anything it would probably be micro-stuttering, it might not be enough to really be noticeable.

Even if the stuttering wasnt noticable it still is a hit or miss if the games he would like to play would support 1080 sli

the rule is SINGLE CARD till you can't buy a better model then if you need more SLI 2 of them, but seriously, SLI doesn't work in all games and it would SUCK to spend all that money and not be any better then you are now in some games.

what you could do is google each individual game you play and add the word SLI to the end and see if there are issues with SLI in that game just like I did just now for Battlefield 1 that showed it had a bunch of SLI issues back around the end of last year/first of this year.

Two GTX 1080s in SLI looks cooler.

Gamers Nexus says SC2 the third fan doesn't add enough to justify the higher cost of the FTW3 (even if it's the better looking of the 2).

Well I'm personally waiting Volta to replace my Maxwell card, so why not advise it for you who's already with a 1080 any ways... It is likely Volta will be here by the end of the year and if we learned anything with history a GTX 2070 will be cheaper and offer the GTX 1080ti performance... if you're in no actual hurry and the games you run Now are still going smooth enough, I see no reason why not wait.

I can pick up a 1080 right now for $630CAD on kijiji so if you want to be competitive you have to sell it at the ~600CAD range

I think the FTW products use higher quality components and also require extra power so they have more overclock headroom.

1080 sli will be more powerful in most cases but there will always be poorly optimized games
any game that has less than 40% scaling in sli isnt worth playing as other parts will also be shit though lol
