i7 7700k vs Ryzen 5 1600x

I want to know which CPU will be better for SolidWorks , i7 7700k or Ryzen 5 1600x. I am going to pair it with a GTX 1070 . I woukd mostly use it for SolidWorks and Video Editing and sometimes for Gaming as well.

1600 / 1600X is better for almost everything except high-refresh gaming.

SolidWorks prefers strong cores. Either would be fine, though the rest of the system will determine which is better from a cost perspective.

That compares a 1700x to a 7700k but you can guesstimate the 1600s relative performance from that. But it looks like the 7700k has the better performance.

Honestly, looks like the 7700k, but this isn't a fair comparison as the chip is 50% more expensive. Now if you are getting a crappy gpu and are going with a 7700k vs a good gpu and a 1600x, I'd go with the latter build every time for Solid works. What gpu are you getting for this build.

looks like render times would be similar, and modeling wouldn't really matter, but simulation is where the 1600 would struggle being around 35%ish slower.
