so this is my first computer build by myself, my rig is

AM4 msi x370 xpower gaming titanium, Ryzen 7 1800x, Corsair vengance 3000mhz 2x8gb, nzxt kraken x52 cooler.

so i follow the guide to set everything up, did it twice now. i connect the power supply and i turn it on and all i get is the green power button on the MB and the red led HW lights up.

i get no codes on the code display its just empty. i tried loosing my cooler a bit, because i heard that having them on too tight might cause issues. tried resetting the cmos but it did nothing.

tried taking out my ram 1 by 1 and inserting them again, nothing. tried bios flash with a usb and pressing the bios update button on the mb and it lights up and starts flashing but as soon as i insert my usb drive it stops.

im thinking of trying to get new ram like 2400mhz because i heard that is the best right now for ryzen.

please help, anything is appreciated, thank you.

Sounds like a dead board to me. If it works it should at least give some form of life, even without anything connected apart from power (yes that includes cpu and ram).

As said above show us how you connected it, the only thing i can think of now apart from dead mobo is a psu or physical connection issue.

Since it's true that Ryzen does have compatibility issues with RAM, it doesn't mean that it won't work.

Even if those RAM sticks are not supported, every DDR4 ram sticks should work on it, but at lower frequency. Probbably 2133 or 2400MHz.

So in your case it sounds more like broken motherboard.

Also, try to cleear CMOS again, turn on your PC and wait like 10 minutes. First boot/post can take a long time.

I mean good.. But did you actually press the power button to turn the system on? :P

JK

Can you get into bios? Sounds like you can considering you updated it.

But you also say that you get no signal on screen.

Take out your entire build from the case, build it on a table and test it there.

You might have a dead board.

Your ram should be in slots 2 and 4, not 1 and 2. Not sure if that would stop it from posting, though.

yes of course, here is the mess of wires that i have set up lol

Good GOD those cables:o

If you have a video card of any sort, try plugging it in to see if you get signal.

(That's a pretty poor quality PSU for such high end parts)

For that matter, doesn't Ryzen require a graphics card? There isn't integrated graphics on there, right?

i had an avermedia live capture card in because the GPU will not arrive until tomorrow. would that card even suffice as a graphics card?

I thought Ryzen chips were APUs?!

Well I was really unsure about this as well, but I googled his motherboard and found out that it has an HDMI input.

When I looked up "1800x integrated graphics" the answer was vague, and results was basically people asking the same.

I suppose it has some sort if integrated graphics, but I have no clue, really.

Well I think you should read the manual ... it clearly states that you should use DIM2 first, then DIM4.

So put your RAM in 2nd and 4th slot. CHeck your manual for pictures of it.

And you won't see anything if you plug your monitor to the motherboard. You need GPU to get any signal at all. That's why you can't see anything.

Wait till you get your GPU and then test again.

alright so i got my gpu today, a GTX 1080 ti Zotac amp extreme. nothing changed, seems like the gpu is getting power, motherboard is green on the power button aswell, but still no code display and no display at all, no fans are coming on, no sound when i turn the mb on and the AIO for my cpu does not turn on either.

i tried to reset the cmos again, but nothing. changed the ram location to dim2 and 4 but again nothing.

So it's hard to tell from your photos, but it looks like you're missing a 12v rail to your CPU as well as the PCIe Power connection to your motherboard.

Connect both 8 and 4 pin connections, not just one. It "looks" like all the positive wires are on the same side (CPU cable) and not mixed (8pin PCIE) but check to make sure you're using the right connection. Also, your manual says connect all of them (24pin + 8pin +4pin), some say connect 1 or the other... yours is both.  Also connect the 6pin PCIe power connector at the bottom.

Make sure you're "Game Knob" is set to 0.  It's an OC feature you really don't want to use when troubleshooting.

oh thank you for the info, you are right i did not connect those.

i connected them and still nothing, just to make sure i did it correct at least with the PCIE 6 pin connecter, is there a specific one on the power supply that i am supposed to use? i think i used one that was labeled for VGA. it is an 8 pin connector on the PSU.
