If you are going for a red and black build idk why you wouldn't just get the gaming x as it is red and black. It's a wonderful card and I don't have a single complaint I can think of other than it doesn't fit all color schemes.

I've been looking for builds with the Gaming 7 motherboard on pcpartpicker, and saw these two, this is with the Gaming X, and this is with a custom backplate.

I thought a white/silver GPU would make a nicier look because of the white parts of the motherboard.

So i think i'll go with the Gaming X instead

So i'm planning on build a new pc and i can't decide between these two brands zotac and msi, what i'm looking more is temperature, since most of the time here the room temperature is at 25º-37ºC on summer and autumn.

I've been told that the MSI Gaming X does have good cooling with it's two fans which i don't know what size are.

And i've been looking the Zotac Amp Extreme for a long time, because is a huge card, plus it does have 3 90mm fan, and the radiator is what makes it so big (sorry, no pun intended).

Also, the color theme of the build will be red, white and black, i'm getting a Gigabyte GA-z170x-Gaming 7, G-Skill Ripjaws V Series and the case is the s340 (red/black), also i'll get 16pin and 8pin custom sleeved cables to match the theme. I think the MSI quicksilver would fit nicely on the build because of the silver color, and if i go with Zotac, the backplate will ruin the look becasue of those two yellow bars.

If i go with Zotac i may be able to paint it with red, it'll look more or less like this, i'll use plasti dip so the paint can be removed easily afterwards, the only problem of this is that there are little diesigns on the bars and it'll be really hard to not paint these.

My Zotac 1080 AMP! runs really hot. 80c sometimes

my ASUS 1070 runs at 68c

not the same GPU, but still comparable.

I'd recommend ASUS Strix. they're really good.

Most of the Dual fan cards will have very similar temps. Whats makes a difference is if you opt for 3 fan config like a EVGA FTW or ASUS Strix.

I would rather agree on what we share, than fight on what we don't. - Myself

@khazad

I own an Msi Gtx 1070 Quicksilver which is basically a white/silver version of the Gaming Z.

The temps are around 65 Celsius when in OC mode but after overclocking it myself sometimes it hits 70 but it doesn't really go past that.

The fans are nice and quiet and the card looks great although the RGB leds aren't the best on the MSI cards but you can always turn them off if you want to :)

(I wanted to use white but it's more blue-ish also the colors aren't the best)

but since you are going for Black/Red theme it will be fine because the leds look pretty good in red mode.

What about the Amp Extreme?

dunno about that one, but it seems better to get a smaller, better card than a card that just solves cooling problems with brute force.

Like i said i'll use plasti dip, since it's easy to remove it. But i think Zotac voids the warranty if you remove the cooler and/or the heatsink

Great :D, do you have any friends that have the Gigabyte GA-Z170X-Gaming 7 motherboard so you can put your GPu in there and see how it'll look like? if is not much, i really wanna see how it looks like so i can choose between the Quicksilver and the Gaming X.

Yep I just watched some reviews. ASUS & EVGA are best when it is matter of cooling solution.

I have ASUS Strix GTX 970 it is 60 degrees (in summer august or july) when playing WATCH_DOGS 2 all maxed out @ 50 fps

I'm not sure where you are shopping from but you could also check out the Gaming Z it's the same card but with a bit better performance for almost the same price at least where i'm from.

If you care about that kind of stuff. Just thought i mention it :)

Any card you want, as long as it have aftermarket cooler and it's not Founders Edition.

Difference shouldn't be that big.

I'll buy it from amazon (or newegg if i want For Honor), in both stores the Gaming Z cost way more, yes it has more clock speed but i can OC the X series to match it, and besides from that, i'll be paying more only for the lights.

I'd recommend the ASUS 1070. The AMP is a good model, but they tend to run a little hot.
