Hey all I just moved into a new apartment in college and plugged in my new Netgear c3700 wifi cable modem router. I have the coaxial plugged in, power, and Ethernet from the modem router to my computer but I get zero connection. Both the upstream and downstream lights blink continuously, the only I can connect to (sometimes) is the given ISP linking me towards Netgear Genie. As far as I remember these things are suppose to be nearly just plug and play. I can't figure out what to do at this point. In netgear genie it says internet "in profess" and is red. I've gone into administration and shut off router mode, turned it back on. No alas I still have no internet connection. Does anyone have any ideas?

Did you get the modem from the Cable Company or did you purchase it yourself? If it was the latter then you need to register it with the cable provider. Not sure on modem/router combos, but I know with Comcast if you plug a modem directly in to a computer it will bring up  the walled garden where you have to put in your account info and it registers the modem for you. Other wise you have to contact the ISP.

I just want to sit back and watch the world burn.

A modem is activated on a Node. Whenever you move, you need the isp to activate your modem on the new Node in your area. That explains the DS and US blinking.

Maybe you've already registered your move and in the map of nodes they have, they've linked your modem on the wrong node, call the ISP, they'll sort it out in 15mins, they can tell by the led status of your modem.
