Why 750W?

And either EVGA B2 (semi modular, cheaper) or EVGA G2 (full modular)

Yeah it's a bit overkill. Even in the future, including upgrades, my build has a recommended wattage of 642 watts. Personally, I'm just looking for extra headroom for peace of mind cause 650 seems like cutting it close.

Definitely. 750B2 would be perfect. It and G2 are the same platform, same unit, just downgraded a little bit internally

idk

Well, a quality 550w can power a single GPU card setup, so you are getting quite the "piece of mind" if your build isn't a dual GPU setup.

Anyways, can you provide a budget, as well as links to stores you can buy from?

They aren't the same platform. G2 = Leadex Gold, B2=cost down Golden Green.

The B2 is a good PSU though

They actually came out with a B3 version not too long ago! waiting on Jonnygury review but its made by Superflower, same OEM that made the B2. Basically a free upgrade to fully modular

Yeah, platform that the B3 is based off of should be part of the Leadex family, as I recently explained here:

While it does offer better functionality because it is fully modular and have semi-passive mode cooling, the fan choice is a downgrade as it uses a sleeved bearing fan rather than a ball bearing one in the B2.

Interesting. Do you think they downgraded because they assumed the passive mode cooling would be enough to give a sleeve bearing fan a similar life span to a ball bearing?

They downgraded it to compete with the CXM in terms of price.

My account is almost entirely dormant. Hope you all are having a grand time. Many years of fun were had here.

Well, having a LLC Resonant + DC-DC based PSU that's fully modular while having a 5 year warranty may be difficult if they use a higher quality fan and still want it to be lucrative with the Corsair CXM pricing as stated by STRM.

You could say that having it in passive mode will allow it to last longer in a PSU application, as if the fan is not spinning, then the lifespan will be longer than if it constantly on. Of course, it also depends on the fan profile. If the fan goes out of passive mode just after 40wDC like what it did with the Supernova G3 in this review, it wouldn't matter as the fan would be on anyways even with an idling system with a dedicated GPU. But if it is done properly, the fan should last longer in the B3 should it operate in passive mode during idle and basic task, while the more demanding task like gaming loads will have the fan spinning.
