The Division: what do you think of this game

ChuckMaurice

I'm wondering about buying Tom Clancy: The Division, but I'm really picky as for video games. People who played it, what do you think of this game?

if you want to play it, do it with a friend. playing solo and with strangers gets boring, at least for me.

This said, the game is quite good and has lots of hours of gameplay

I found it below average in quality.

For PC, it's quite un-optimized.  I wouldn't buy it.

If you have a bunch of mates with it then I can see it being a good time waster, but if you want to solo it, or do it with randomers then like cryosec said, it gets boring rather quickly.

If you ever want to play, I'm down for some Division. Granted, I'll make a new character since you don't want to play with a 180+ Gear Level.

Sorta off topic. I've considered The Division numerous times, same with Titanfall 2, but have read such *crap* about the single player that I never bothered. Does anyone know of any decent games in that genre that have decent 20+ hour campaigns on PC?

To the OP. I've never played either, but have heard only positive things about the multiplayer.

There is enough youth in this world, how about a fountain of smart?

It was good when it first came out because to get good gear you had to go into the highest dark zone level where you would shit yourself trying to get gear out. They wrecked it because it made too many precious nancies cry. After the underground expansion, to get the best gear, you only have to farm which meant not many people in the dz. that is when I stopped playing, when the developers ruinned the hardcore aspects of the game

Hi there, I love to play this game with my friends. It is very boring to  play solo. I got this game as a gift from my uncle which he bought from Instant-gaming. I think this game is the best option to experience good adventure.

Thanks all for your answers. I don't think I'm gonna buy it in the end, I was looking for a solo experience but if you say solo is boring, I don't have any friends to play it with me (they are even more broke than me, and busy with Overwatch).

Anyway because I became so picky with video games and haven't as much time as before I think I'm gonna look for a subscription-based game library or something. Even with Steam sales I'm tired of paying for games I only play a few hours. Wish I could get partly reimbursed or could sell back the game.

I bought it on release last year.  It was fun for a week but got boring real quick.

You mentioned being picky when it comes to video games.  What are you looking for specifically?

I'm either looking for 1) fun, non-competitive FPS to play with friends casually (like Overwatch, Battlefield, Borderlands 2...) or 2) story-driven solo games in multiple genres (but mostly RPG or FPS). Recent favorites includes The Witcher 3, Wolfenstein TNO... I was mostly disapointed by my recent purchases in the second category: for example Deus Ex: Human Revolution was average at best (not to mention barely playable on my rig) and I gave it only 2-3h of playtime before wanting to play something else.

The first category is mostly composed of mainstream titles (Overwatch, Borderlands, Battlefield) or free-to-play "temporary" games we used to play (Robocraft, Hawken, Fractured Space) because I have to wait for my friends to buy them or interest them in a free game (so they must be popular or free).

The Division looked interesting but would definitely fall under the second category unless I convince one or two friends to play with me. So if the solo is boring...

But I'll definitely check the demo

Well, one recommendation I have for fun multiplayer and good story is Gears 4.  Horde mode is a blast and the campaign is gorgeous, fairly long and quite good.  It's also an extremely well-optimized PC port.

In terms of story-driven games, have you tried Tomb Raider and its sequel?  Those are fun and quite lengthy (50+ hours each if you do side missions and collect loot).  Other than that, Prey is coming out this week and looks promising.  In addition, Shadow of War is one to watch out for this summer.

If you like PvE, The Division is a good choice. The good thing is that while there are "classes" as far as the community is concerned, you aren't cemented into them as with other RPG's. You can definitely be a "tank" by taking a bunch of highly armored pieces and muzzle brakes, but that is about as far as classes go. There is no de facto "healer", "tank", or "support" as you can change between any combination of skills, weapons, and armor on-the-fly. I like the fact that enemies can be very tough depending on your level and in-game location, but once you reach max level, the game begins to scale enemies with your "gear level".

If you're interested in playing, I have the game on Uplay so you can add me that way and on Steam.  "Looking for Group" sub-forum is also available for you if you need to find others to play with, just tag me (@ARikozuM) whenever you'd like. I'm usually available around 5-8PM EST.

Runs great on my UPGRADED PC, it didn't do so well on my 1080 equipped on @ 4K max settings.  Now I easily get ~70 FPS with my 1080 Tis.

I believe with an RX 480 you get ~45 FPS at 1440p ultra, which isn't far from that perfect 60 FPS or is it able to fully utilize your monitors refresh rate..  I play most of my games on a Predator gaming monitor(forgot which one but is also 1440p) or my 4k TV, both of which I can utilize.

I bought it at launch and enjoyed it with friends. As others have stated, it gets a bit tedious if you're hitting it solo. Wildlands, I felt, was The Division done right. And with with AI thrown in when playing it solo, it makes it a much better game all round. Whilst still maintaining a similar feel as The Division.

He's a top 1% man, c'mon. On a serious note, the game, as far as I know, as imperfect as the pc optimization is, it is awful for crossfire, and worse for SLI, so if he could settle for 1440p high setting he'd probably be cool (he'd have to disable SLI). Of course 1440p 144 refresh on high graphic settings does take some getting used to. At times, he may even drop to 75 fps. Unacceptable!
