HX1050 vs RM1000

ltguy

Whats the difference between these two power supplies. I'm leaning towards the RM series because I dont see the point in the HX series, but i'm not sure if the RM series is the same quality. As far as the hx series is concerned i am completely confused. They allow you to buy an individually sleeved cable kit for it... great. But the 24 pin is hardwired into the psu, and has multicolored cables. I want all my cables blacked out, including all the ones into the motherboard, otherwise why am i buying an $80 cable kit...fail corsair. So the cheaper rm series is fully modular and and cables are black all the way to the connectors. So many pros for the RM series as far as features... so why is the hx series more expensive ??

The HX is made with higher quality components.

Personally I'd get something from Seasonic though.

Cables aren't black.

so why is the hx series more expensive ??

The RM series is functionally superior than the HX due to optimization for silence, fully modularity, and Corsair Link support. The HX is superior because it is best with higher quality components (it being rated at 50C reflects that), better electrical performance, and a 7 year warranty rather than 5.

Corsair wanted the RM to replaced the TX in the mainstream segment of the market not the high-end segment where the HX is. Since many people had wanted an affordable silent, gold certified PSU with full modularity, and Corsair did just that with the sacrifice of quality and performance (the component choice on the TX was actually better, as it uses full Japanese caps for example), and that's why is it cheaper.

Quite honestly in comparison to the EVGA SuperNova 1000 G2 / P2 and Cooler Master V1000, the RM1000 isn't price that well either.

Seasonic X-1000 :)

You can always buy Corsair cables seperately

http://www.corsair.com/en/power-supply-units/psu-accessories-1.html

Considering how Corsair is standardizing their PSU to used the "Type 3" connectivity among all new series, the Seasonic will have a different pin out and won't be compatible
