I'm looking to start doing youtube soon, and I wanna get a decent standalone mic to record commentary, etc. I'd like something like a Blue Microphone, like the Yeti, but those are pretty damn expensive. Anyway, i'm looking for something that's kinda cheap, and has good sound quality. Any suggestions?

If there were cheaper mics with the same sound quality why would the yeti still exist?

If you want better sound, you pay more, that's why it's expensive.

Maybe look at a blue snowball or something?

I never said the same sound quality, just good sound quality.

And yes, but that's not always true. Take something like Beats. You pay out the ass for beats headphones and they really don't have very good sound.

And that's one I was considering, the Snowball

1) There is no definition of "good sound quality" it is a sliding scale and everyone has a different opinion.

2) Just because you can pay more for a crappy product does not make my statement false. I said that if you want something better, you will need to pay more. If you want to prove this statement wrong, then you need to find a counterexample which consists of something cheaper that performs the same or better.

AFAIK there isn't a microphone that performs the same or better than a yeti while costing less.

P -> Q

To prove it wrong you need to show P and ~Q

1. I'm aware

2. I never asked for one that performed the same

You said "I'd like something [...] like the Yeti"

In English, this implies you are looking for a product of equal quality.

Did you mean to say something different?

Poor choice of words my bad. What I meant was, I would enjoy having a Yeti but those cost too much. I would like suggestions on something with good sound quality (but not the same as the Yeti), but is cheaper than a Yeti

probably the cheapest but best sounding mic is something like the blue snowball ice.

That's one I was looking at, the Snowball and Snowball Ice

try pickup a 2nd hand one.

I might look on eBay or Craigslist or something, but I usually don't buy used electronics. Never know what could be wrong with them

aslong as they have proof of purchase and its relatively new it will be covered with warranty.

Ok, well the snowball is the best one that's cheaper.

If you only need one mode then you can get the ice and save even more.

I've seen used snowballs go for like $30 CAD used, so if you don't mind buying used it's even cheaper.

I'll probably get the regular snowball, seeing as the ice is only $10 cheaper

And damn, that's cheap
